Rolex GMT-Master II “Tiger Eye” “Root beer” reference 16753 from 1981 in immaculate condition for its age. The watch comes with the original box, guarantee paper, translation booklet, manual, holder. Includes both inner and outer carton box. The serial number dates the production year of this watch to 1979. The watch is fitted on a gold and steel Jubilee bracelet reference 62523-H15, stamped E10, with end links marked 450.

The case is thick with well-defined lugs with sharp edges and the bevels still in place. The brushing on the top of the lugs is well defined. The lug holes are sharp and crisp. All of these factors give the impression that this watch has likely never been polished. This watch has only had one previous owner, who owned it from buying it brand new from Bucherer in 1981. The watch comes with the original purchase receipt from Bucherer dated 1981 which is a rare accessory to accompany a watch of this age and makes it, especially for collectors.

Considering its age, it has some beautiful patina and signs of aging. Parts of the dial have shifted color to a brown/yellow-gold hue, and the iconic “root beer” gold and brown bezel insert has faded somewhat in color. The brown dial has a lovely matte finish. The luminous material used in this watch is tritium, and this has aged to a brown and creamy color. On some markers and hands, the luminous mass has developed a unique patina.

All of these things come together and results in a watch that is rich in character, and which shows it is truly a timeless icon.

The 24-hour bezel is bi-directional and pushed down in order to rotate and operate it. The additional GMT-hand helps, together with the bezel helps you keep track of an additional time zone.

The main improvement of the Rolex 16753 from the previous 1675/3 is its quickset date function which makes it possible to change the date individually without having to change the date forward.
