Rolex Explorer II 16570

Rolex Explorer II 16570

Rolex Explorer II reference 16570 with “polar” white dial and a contrasting red GMT hand.

The watch is made in stainless steel and is powered by the Cal.3185 in-house Rolex movement.

Attached is a SEL ( solid end-links ) oyster bracelet.

The first Rolex Explorer II was the reference 1655, also known as the “Steve McQueen”. 1655 was the predecessor of a transitional model which followed, which was the reference number 16550. The new transitional model featured a newer and sportier look, and this watch was the foundation for the watch that would come to follow, which was the Explorer II 16570.

The 16570 came in 2 different types, the white face dial, known as the polar, and the black.

The 16570 wasn’t a too popular model during its production years and the Submariner, Daytona, and GMT Master were models that were sold much more frequently, thus overshadowing the Explorer II. However, the watch has caught a lot of interest in the last 10 years and is according to a lot of enthusiasts and watch lovers the best Rolex watch for the price. In fact, the Rolex Explorer II 16570 is considered to be one of the Rolex watches that offers a great value for money, because what you get when you buy the Explorer II is seriously cool sporty stainless steel watch that carries a rich history, a GMT function, and is very durable and universal, making it suitable for most occasions. And it offers all of this at a much lower price than a Submariner or  GMT. Due to the relatively low demand for the watch when in production, it is thus expected that the prices for the Rolex Explorer II will continue to increase.

Equipped with the GMT-hand you’re able to set a different time-zone, or to use it for its original purpose, to show whether its night or day thanks to the fixed 24-hour bezel.

The Explorer has been involved in a broad line of different expeditions and has a big place in the Rolex-history.

Watch comes full set with everything from the store and has the newer box which is right for this 2006 Z-series.

Watch has some wear to it in form of hairlines. No chips in the case or the sapphire glass, making it a Rolex Explorer II in a great condition. Watch runs perfectly and everything works very smoothly.

The Rolex Explorer II 16570 came to become replaced by the newer Explorer II 216570, which means that the Explorer II 16570 is now discontinued and thus harder to get ahold of.
