Brand new Rolex GMT-Master II reference 116710BLNR. The watch has Rolex’s iconic dual-colored Cerachrom bezel with blue contrasted by black. The bracelet and case are made of 904L Oystersteel. The watch features a 24-hour uni-directional rotatable bezel and a GMT hand which allows you to keep track of two time zones at the same time. The watch features a self-winding automatic completely developed and manufactured by Rolex – the caliber 3186.
The Rolex GMT-Master II 116710BLNR is, just like most of Rolex’s watches, a very iconic and historic piece. The Rolex GMT-Master model was initially developed upon the request of Panam pilots (Pan American Airways), who had the need of keeping track of two time zones at once during long-haul flights: the time at home and the time of the destination of which the pilot was going to fly to. Over the years, the Rolex Explorer has evolved and improved, and in the early 1980s, the Rolex GMT-Master II was released, which was an updated version of the GMT-Master.
The Rolex GMT-Master II has a bi-directional rotating bezel and an updated movement from the previous model which allows you to independently adjust the hour hand to local time without stopping the seconds or disturbing the minutes and 24 hour GMT hand. This means that with the rotatable bezel the watch is able to keep track of three time zones at the same time.
Not only does the blue and black bezel combination of the Rolex GMT-Master II 116710BLNR look striking, but it also has a practical purpose, which is to separate between night and day.
