The Rolex Explorer I is truly an iconic and important piece in Rolex’s lineup of watches. The Rolex Explorer 214270 is part of Rolex’s Explorer I collection. The Explorer I is a simple three-handed timepiece, and one of the most iconic design elements of the Explorer I is that it features Arabic 3,6,9 numerals on the dial. The Explorer 214270 has had two predecessors. The previous model 14270 and the 114270, and before that, the Explorer 1016. The Explorer has a long history, and the most important event in its history is when the first Explorer model was worn during the first climbing of Mount Everest, thus proving that the Explorer was a watch to rely on – a very rugged and durable piece.
The Rolex Explorer 214270 is a very simple and minimalistic watch. It’s built on the Oyster Perpetual case, and has then been refined and changed a bit in order to turn it into an Explorer. The name gives the watch away, but it is built to particular withstand extreme temperatures and extreme conditions. The watch features a 39mm case, which means having moved from the original 36mm sized case, making it more relevant to today’s standards.
