The Rolex Explorer was initially made as a collaboration between PANAM (Pan America Airways) and Rolex since the pilots of Panam needed to keep track of two time zones simultaneously. As a result, Rolex released the GMT-Master ref 6542, which came to become the start of Rolex’s GMT line. Eventually, Rolex released an updated GMT-Master II model ref 16710, which was the predecessor of the 11670. The new 116710 GMT-Master II featured Rolex’s new maxicase, a ceramic bezel, and all of the other design traits that can be found in Rolex’s sports line, predominantly on Submariner watches.

In design, The 116710LN and the Rolex Submariner 116610LN are very similar. The visual difference is that the GMT-Master features a GMT bezel and a fourth GMT hand.

The GMT-Master II 116710LN is a watch that, thanks to its black color, contrasted by stainless steel and white indexes is a watch that is very durable and universal.
