Tudor Black Bay 79220B

Tudor Black Bay 79220B

This watch is one of the early watches of Tudor’s Black Bay model after the brand’s relaunch. As such, this timepiece features the reliable ETA 2824 caliber. The watch features a unidirectional rotatable steel bezel with a disc in matt blue, a black, domed dial, as well as a domed sapphire crystal. It is waterproof up to 200 meters.

The Tudor Black Bay 79220B is built on the Tudor Submariner models from the 50s, therefore the name Heritage Black Bay. The Tudor Submariner timepieces from the 50s are appreciated and sought-after timepieces among collectors, and because the relaunch timepiece- the Black Bay 79220 featured many traditional design elements as a nod to the past, such as a matte dial, a big crown with no crown-guards, the Tudor rose on the dial etc., the Tudor Heritage Black Bay quickly became a popular watch and an instant success.

The Black Bay 79220B is a not to Tudor’s past, but its specifications are also up-to-date with modern diver’s watches, with a good water resistance, a sapphire crystal, an accurate and rugged movement.

The Black Bay 79220B is now discontinued in favor for the 79230B which features an in-house movement. Despite there being a newer, in-house version available on the market, collectors tend to prefer the 79220B since it has a slimmer case, and is also closer to the original 50s dive watch from Tudor, and which thus has a lot of history with Rolex’s Submariner.
