Top 15 Best Tissot watches [List & Guide]

There are countless different watch brands on the market today. Tons and tons of new, microbrands have popped up in the last decade from all around the world. But watchmaking has its roots in Switzerland – the motherland of watchmaking – and it is also from here that we find Tissot.

Tissot is a watch brand that is known and appreciated for making high-quality watches at affordable prices. Swiss watches are mostly associated with luxury and expensive prices, from brands like Omega and Rolex, but the good news is that there are also more affordable alternatives for those who want Swiss quality, but without having to pay thousands. Tissot offers high-quality Swiss watches, but at prices that can almost compete with other affordable, for example, Japanese counterparts. At least if you factor in the quality into the equation.

Tissot watches history

Tissot has a long and rich history which naturally adds to the brand’s appeal. Tissot was founded in the city of Le Locle in Switzerland in 1983 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile Tissot.

In 1930, a big and important event in Tissot’s history took place, which is that it merged with Omega SA, thus creating SSIH (Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère). Following the merging with Omega, and several new acquisitions of other brands, the group eventually formed the Swatch group in 1998 which is today the largest Swiss watch group consisting of a number of different brands such as Blancpain, Breguet, Longines, Swatch, and of course Tissot, and many more.

Tissot has always had a focus on Swiss mechanical watchmaking and during World War 2, they made military watches for many different militaries. Throughout its history, the company has also become responsible for a number of watchmaking innovations which have helped put Tissot on the map. For example, Tissot created the first mass-produced pocket watch and the first pocket watch with two time zones in 1853. The company is also responsible for the first anti-magnetic watch, in 1929–30.

If you want a high-quality Swiss watch made with great quality but at a more affordable price than its luxury Swiss counterparts, Tissot is an excellent choice. In this article, we are looking closer at the best and most popular Swatch watches.

Tissot Couturier Chrono Quartz T0356171605100

First up in this list is the Tissot Couturier Chrono T0356171605100. This is a watch that is designed with a balance between sportiness and elegance. Its design primarily leans towards sportiness, however, it is also versatile and suitable for everyday wear.

The watch has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 41mm and a thickness of 10.95 which is suitable for average to large men’s wrists. The case has a bit of a bulky design, but it’s still nicely executed with brushed and polished elements.

It is powered by a Swiss quartz movement. Whilst watch enthusiasts may prefer a mechanical movement, a lot of people enjoy the accuracy and practicality of a quartz movement.

It has a black dial with three large sub-dials for the chronograph and a tachymeter scale around the outer edge of the dial. We also find large applied metal hour markers. The hands are sharp and triangle-shaped with luminescence applied to them for better legibility in low-lit conditions. Since this is designed as a versatile everyday watch, it has a ”standard” water resistance of 100m/330 feet. The black leather strap also helps make it more elegant and suitable for many different occasions.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 41mm
  • Thickness: 10.95mm
  • Movement: Swiss quartz
  • Water-resistance: 100m/330 feet

Tissot V8 T1064071105100

The Tissot V8 Automatic T1064071105100 is a watch for those who want an everyday watch with a sporty and robust appearance. This watch is evidently inspired by dive watches in its design, but it isn’t one. It has a sporty stainless steel case with a diameter of 42.5mm and a thickness of 12.7mm. What stands out in my opinion is how beautifully finished the case is. And this is a prime example of how just a little higher price (compared to the most affordable automatic watches) can make a huge difference in the quality and finishing.

The case has relatively short lugs with lugs that have beautiful polished, beveled edges and a nice brushed finish on the bezel and on the top of the lugs. To add to the sporty look, the crown also sits protected between crown guards. For an everyday watch, the water resistance is decent at 100m/330 feet.

The watch is, according to Tissot, inspired by the racing cars from the 60s, and I guess you could say that it has a bit of a vintage-inspired design, but it is not too obvious. It is fitted on a sporty three-link Oyster-style bracelet with a satin finish and butterfly clasp with push-button closure.

It is also powered by a Swiss automatic movement which is something that watch enthusiasts, in particular, will enjoy. And as we have come to expect from Tissot watches, this movement is robust, reliable, and long-lasting. This is simply a stylish sports watch that works on most occasions.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 42.5mm
  • Thickness: 12.7mm
  • Water-resistance: 100m/330 feet
  • Movement: Swiss automatic

Tissot T0354461105100

If you want an affordable Swiss watch with a clean and elegant design with a touch of sportiness, the Tissot T0354461105100 is a great choice. It has an elegant yet versatile design that works perfectly for everyday wear and even on formal occasions. Whilst dress watches are great for formal occasions, a lot of people don’t like the most dressy watches. And the good news is that even more sporty watches can also work, and this is a perfect example of that.

It is presented with a 39mm stainless steel case with a polished bezel and sides and brushed lugs on the upper side. It is water-resistant to 100m/330 feet which is quite decent for regular, daily wear. In general, Tissot uses sapphire crystals for its watches instead of the cheaper mineral crystals, and so does this watch.

The dial is simple and clean with a black background, skeleton hands, and applied metal hour markers with a polished finish which enhances the watch’s elegance.

Last but not least, it is powered by a Swiss quartz movement for reliability and durability.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 39mm
  • Water-resistance: 100m/330 feet
  • Movement: Swiss quartz
  • Crystal: Sapphire

Tissot T17158652 PRC 200 Chronograph

The Tissot PRC 200 Chronograph T17158652 is one of the most popular chronograph watches from Tissot. It has a stylish, simple, and clean design which makes it perfect for many different occasions. It has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 39.8mm which is a reasonable size that fits most men’s wrists. The case also has an interesting design with a thin bezel and a relatively slim case, whilst the lugs are relatively large in proportion to the rest of the case.

The watch has a black dial with a sloped chapter ring on which the tachymeter scale for the chronograph is presented, and of course three chronograph sub-dials on the dial. At 4 o’clock, it has a date window discreetly tucked in which can be practical for everyday wear. The watch is mostly monochrome, but for a touch of color, the chronograph seconds hand and two of the hands for the sub-dials are painted yellow which gives it a sportier appearance. The dial also has large white Arabic numerals at 3, 9, and 12 o’clock, as well as large sword-shaped hands with luminescence, applied to them. On top of the case sits a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, as we can expect.

The watch is fitted on a stainless steel bracelet with a secure fold-over-clasp-with-push-buttons and a combination of brushed and polished links,

The water resistance is actually above expectations at 200m/660 feet which means you can go swimming and diving with it. Its water specifications is very interesting considering that it is technically not a dive watch.

Last but not least, it is powered by a precise and robust Swiss quartz movement.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 39.8mm
  • Movement. Swiss quartz
  • Water-resistance: 200m/660 feet

Tissot Seastar Seastar Chronograph T1204171105100

Dive watches are extremely popular and have been for a long time. The Seastar is Tissot’s answer to the perfect dive watch.

The T1204171105100 is a watch with a distinct dive watch design and monochrome look. This particular watch also incorporates a chronograph function, which some wearers may find useful. And if not, it still looks quite good.

The watch is relatively large at 45.5mm and with a thickness of 12.82mm, so it requires a relatively large wrist or a preference for large watches to pull it off. The water resistance is 300m/1000 feet which is actually really good. With this watch, you won’t have to worry about water for one bit. The crown is protected by large crown guards and on each side, it has a pusher for the chronograph.

Of course, it is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel for measuring 60-minutes. The bezel has teeth edges for better grip and a black aluminum insert with a luminous pip at 12 o’clock.

The dial is black and has, apart from the chronograph function, all of the classic design features that you would expect in a dive watch. This means large applied metal hour markers filled with luminescence and large sword-shaped hands with luminescence as well. As a result, it is a watch that offers great legibility in all environments.

The watch is powered by a Swiss quartz movement.

Specifications

  • Movement: Swiss quartz
  • Thickness: 12.82mm
  • Water-resistance: 300m/1000 feet
  • Diameter: 45.5mm

Tissot Chrono XL T1166171104701

For those who want something more elegant and classic, the Tissot Chrono XL T1166171104701 is a great choice. This watch is designed with a simple and classic design, but is also quite big and has some sporty elements. As a result, it can’t be classified as a dress watch, whilst it does work as a dress watch. I’d say that this is a good choice for those who often wear more formal attire rather than casual, and want something that complements their style nicely.

At the same time, the watch has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 45mm which is quite large. With that said, it requires a relatively large wrist to pull it off. Despite the diameter, it still has a relatively slim profile of 11.02 mmm which ensures that it can slide under a cuff without any issues. Another design feature that makes this watch perceive bigger than it actually is is its thin bezel which leaves a lot of room for the dial. As a result, the watch has a very large dial.

The watch is powered by a Swiss quartz movement for accuracy and legibility.

Still, the main focus of this watch is its dark blue dial with white Arabic numerals and three chronograph sub-dials. At 4 o’clock, it also has a date window. To keep it from being a full-on dress watch, Tissot presents this watch on a stainless steel bracelet rather than a leather strap which is a good decision. The steel bracelet has a folding clasp with push-buttons closure and brushed center links with polished side links.

The water resistance is 100m/330 feet which should be just enough for everyday wear such as handling swimming or water splashes.

All in all, to summarize it in Tissot’s own words ”The Tissot Chrono XL Classic is a great watch for those looking for a sporty and elegant chronograph, with Swiss technology at an unbeatable price.”.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 45mm
  • Movement: Swiss quartz
  • Water-resistance: 100m/330 feet
  • Thickness: 11.02mm

The dial has a beautiful matte/brushed finish which makes it very vibrant and beautiful, in particular in direct sunlight. For optimum legibility, it has large applied hour markers filled with luminescence as well as broad sword-shaped hands with luminescence. Being a chronograph, it naturally has chronograph sub-dials on the dial. Furthermore, we also have a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock.

Tissot Le Locle T0064071605300 Dress Watch

If you’re looking for a classy and elegant dress watch, Tissot’s answer is the Le Locle T0064071605300. This watch has a stainless steel case with a size of 39.3mm which is not too big nor too small for most men’s wrists. At the same time, it has a thickness of 9.75 which allows it to slide under a cuff without any issues.

The watch has a round case shape with a slightly domed and polished bezel design and brushed sides. The water resistance is 30m/100 feet which isn’t that impressive, but we don’t expect more from a dress watch anyway.

The dial is carefully thought-out and has a balanced yet refined appearance. Firstly, it has a beautiful pattern which keeps it from being plain and boring. Secondly, it has applied metal Roman hour markers around the dial and classic, vintage-inspired leaf-shaped hands.

The watch is powered by a Swiss automatic movement, and as a bonus feature, it also has a see-through case back which allows you to see the movement from the back.

As a dress watch should, it has a black leather strap with an embossed design

All in all, this is a dress watch that stays true to traditions and classic dress watch design language, making it perfect for formal and dressy occasions.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 39.3mm

Tissot T0384301103700 T-one Automatic

The Tissot T-One T0384301103700 is a versatile watch that combines sportiness and elegance, resulting in a perfect everyday watch. It has a smaller case size with a diameter of 38.5mm and a slim, curved case with elegantly curved lugs which meet a stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished links. The water resistance of 50m/165 feet isn’t the best, but it should be fine for most wearers unless your going swimming and diving. On top of the case sits also a sapphire crystal.

A practical feature of this watch is that it combines both a day and date window. It has a beautiful silver dial with a brushed finish and applied markers. The hands are quite large and have luminescence applied to the tips.

It is powered by a robust automatic movement which you are also able to see through the see-through case back at the back.

All in all, its silver color creates a seamless and clean design that works for virtually any occasion – both formal and casual.

Tissot T-Classic Automatic III Day Date T065.930.11.031.00

If you liked the watch above but prefer something a bit more sporty and with a more original design, the Tissot T-Classic Automatic II T065.930.11.031.00 is a good alternative.

This watch has a similar design and incorporates both a day and date window, but has a few key differences.

The watch has a 39mm stainless steel case but with a more distinct case shape with beautifully curved lugs and polished, beveled edges. The case does not have a crown guard, but a metal piece extents on the whole right side of the case which works similar to a crown guard and provides some protection. The case thickness at 9.5mm also means that it is quite thin and therefore can slide under a cuff and work great on formal occasions. On top of the case, it has a sapphire crystal.

The watch has a white/pearlescent dial with a circular pattern at the center and a matte finish on the outer part. It has applied polished metal hour markers and slim pencil-shaped hands with luminescence. At 12 o’clock, it has a day window and at 6 o’clock, it has a date window. The water resistance is 30m/100 feet so nothing impressive here, but you can think of this watch as a dressy everyday watch, and water resistance isn’t really crucial in such a watch.

It is powered by an automatic movement, but unlike the watch above, it does not have a see-through case back.

Specifications

  • Crystal: Sapphire
  • Diameter: 39mm
  • Thickness: 9.5mm
  • Water-resistance: 30m/100 feet

Tissot T067.417.21.051.00 T-Sport

The Tissot T-Sport T067.417.21.051.00 is an appropriate watch if you want something sporty and more masculine. Already at first glance, you can see that this watch is very sporty with its black and red color choices as well as aggressive lines.

It has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 42mm and a sapphire crystal. It features a unidirectional rotating bezel with a 60-minute graduation scale. At 12 o’clock, it has a red triangle and a luminous pip at 12 o’clock. For every 5 minutes, the bezel also has additional red markings to go with the black and red sporty theme. On top of the case, it has an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

The watch has a water resistance of 200m/660 feet which is quite good, making it suitable for swimming and diving.

It is powered by a Swiss quartz movement.

The dial has a lot of interesting design features and details which contribute to its design. Perhaps the most eye-catching is that it is an all-black appearance with red accents. The center of the dial has a sunburst finish and towards the outer edge, it has a tachymeter scale printed. Outside the center of the dial, it also has a ”striped” pattern which provides some depth and reflects the light nicely. At 4 o’clock, we have an added date window, and to go with the red theme, it is equipped with a red chronograph hand.

Tissot T0954173605700 Quickster Chronograph

The Tissot Quickster Chronograph T0954173605700 is a sporty and versatile chronograph with a rugged design. For a sportier look, the 42mm stainless steel case has an all-black finish. The watch is equipped with a relatively thin bezel on which a tachymeter scale is engraved and printed in white.

The dial is also black but has contrasting large hour markers made in orange for a sporty, racing look. Naturally, the dial has three chronograph sub-dials placed on it for the chronograph, and at 4 o’clock, we find Tissot’s signature date window. The hands are made in metal to provide contrast against the black dial and have applied luminescent material on them. As we can expect, Tissot also uses a sapphire crystal.

The water resistance of this watch is quite good for a sporty chronograph with a water resistance of 100m/330 feet.

All in all, this watch is suitable for those who enjoy the look of a chronograph and want something with a sporty and bold design..

Tissot PRS 516 Quartz Chronograph T1004173720100

The Tissot PRS 516 Chronograph T1004173720100 is a popular chronograph from Tissot with an obvious racing-inspired design. It has an all-black stainless steel case and has a fixed bezel made in carbon fiber. Of course, it has a sapphire crystal on top. To continue on the racing theme, it also has a black carbon fiber dial. The dial has three chronograph sub-dials as well as a subtle date window positioned at 4 o’clock.

To ensure great legibility, it has applied white hour markers at the edge of the dial and for a splash of color, the chronograph seconds hand has a baby blue color. The hands of the watch also have a cool design with a rectangular shape and pointy tips, filled with plenty of luminescence. This ensures perfect legibility in all environments.

Like most Tissot chronographs, it has a water resistance of 100m.

This racing-inspired chronograph is a perfect choice for those who want something sporty yet versatile that can work well on most occasions.

Specifications

Tissot Seastar T1204171704100

The Tissot Seastar T1204171704100 is one of my favorite Tissot watches, and looking at it, it becomes quite obvious why.

The watch has a sporty stainless steel case with a diameter of 45.5mm and a thickness of 12.82, so quite large. But let’s not forget that this is a sports watch. The watch has a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black aluminum insert and a luminous pip at 12 o’clock. To ensure a good grip when rotating it, the bezel has teeth around the edges.

Being a dive watch, it has an excellent water-resistance of 300m/1000 feet which is on par with much more expensive dive watches such as the Rolex Submariner, so not much to complain about there.

But I have to say, the highlight of this watch is certainly the dial, which has a beautiful design which is blue at the center, which shifts to a dark/black color at the edges. This creates a very vibrant dial that becomes very interesting to look at, with a design that you’ll probably never get bored of. The dial has a date window discreetly integrated between 4 and 5 o’clock as well, which can be practical to have. Also, as we expect a dive watch to have, it has large applied hour markers filled with luminescence, as well as large, broad sword-shaped hands filled with luminescent material which ensure perfect legibility in all environments.

The watch is powered by a Swiss quartz chronograph for perfect reliability and accuracy.

All in all, this watch puts a twist on the otherwise boring and monochrome dive watches but does it without looking too flashy or bold.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 40.5mm
  • Thickness: 12.82mm
  • Movement: Swiss quartz
  • Water-resistance: 300m/1000 feet

Tissot Powermatic 80 T1274071104100

Last but not least, we cannot leave this list without including Tissot’s perhaps greatest new model, the Tissot T1274071104100.

This watch has received a lot of praise and good reviews, partly because of its design, but most importantly because of its movement.

The watch has a clean and classic design which makes it perfect for everyday wear and virtually any occasion, both formal and casual. The watch has a nice stainless steel case with a diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 11.5mm. It combines brushed and polished elements with a polished bezel and subtly polished beveled edges.

The new movement in this watch is the Tissot Automatic Powermatic 80. This movement incorporates Tissot’s new Silicum mainspring and offers an impressive power reserve of 80 hours. This is an impressive power reserve that we find in much more expensive luxury watches. Turning the watch around will also reveal the engraved rotor on the movement through the see-through case back.

The watch is presented with a beautiful and elegant dial with a dark blue color and a beautiful sunburst finish which reflects the light beautifully. The dial has applied metal hour markers and beautiful beveled sword-shaped hands with applied luminescence. Positioned at 3 o’clock, it has a date window which is practical for everyday wear.

Its water-resistance of 100m/330 feet is also quite good for an everyday watch.

All in all, this is a beautiful, well-made, and premium watch at a price that can compete with many other watches in this segment that have significantly higher prices. It has great attention to detail as well as an exceptional movement, but also a beautiful overall design.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 40mm
  • Thickness: 11.5mm
  • Crystal: sapphire
  • Water-resistance: 100m/330 feet
  • Movement: Swiss automatic caliber Powermatic 80

9 Affordable Rolex Daytona Alternatives [Best Alternatives to Rolex Daytona]

The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona is one of the most iconic and distinct timepieces in the world. And for good reasons. The Cosmograph Daytona has a long and rich history leading up to the huge popularity it has today. Rolex as a company did not focus much on chronographs in the first half of the 20th century and was certainly not known for them, unlike other brands such as Breitling.
