Tag Heuer Calibre 17 complete guide
The Tag Heuer calibre 17 is a chronograph movement from TAG. It uses the ETA 2894-2 as its base but has been slightly modified. It is modular and is made both with and without an hour totalizer.
Modular means that a complications module (in this case the chronograph) is added to the base time-only movement. The fact that TAG has several versions of the same caliber can make it rather confusing because TAG Heuer calls both the 2892 and the 2893 ETA bases, “Calibre 7”.
The movement is an automatic movement with an analog display. It beats with a frequency of 28800 vph. It has a diameter of 28mm and has 37 jewels. The power reserve is 42 hours.
The functions include chronograph, date, hours, small seconds. The date has a rapid date correction.
Like all Tag Heuer automatic movements, it is made in Switzerland.
The movement is decorated with “Côtes de Genève” and engraved “TAG Heuer — Calibre 17 — Swiss Made”.
Tag Heuer has two variants of the Calibre 17. One has a two-register chronograph with running seconds at 3 o’clock – a 30-minute chronograph register at 9 o’clock; date window at 6 o’clock.
The other version is a three register Chronograph that has an added 12-hour register at 6 o’clock.
