The Seiko Presage collection is particularly appreciated for its affordable price in relation to their value, and for the watches that across the board offer great quality. The SARY057 is presented with a sleek and elegant stainless steel case. It has a diameter of 41mm and a thickness of 12mm. The lug-to-lug measures 49mm. With that said, it is a little bigger than what you would consider a traditional dress watch (no bigger than 39mm in diameter in our opinion), but that is because this watch isn’t a dress watch.

More so, it is an elegant watch made for everyday wear. It has a touch of sportiness to it, which makes it suitable for everyday wear, but it is also classy enough to be worn as a dress watch. With that said, Seiko has succeeded very well in finding the perfect balance.

The case has very elegant and sleek lugs with polished bevels which extend from one lug to the other. As a nice contrast, the top of the lugs is satin-brushed. The sides of the case are polished.

The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock and is slightly recessed into the case which keeps it somewhat protected, and also keeps it from digging into the wrist too much, which is a great thing considering it doesn’t have the iconic 4 o’clock position which is common on many Seiko watches. The crown is signed ”S”.

This watch offers a water resistance of 100m. This means it is suitable for swimming but not for diving or being submerged underwater for longer periods of time. Still, considering the nature of this watch, you’re probably not going to consider going diving with it anyways. Sitting on top of the dial is a sapphire crystal. It’s really nice to see a sapphire crystal on this watch as many watches use Seiko’s proprietary Hardlex crystal. It enhances the impression of quality greatly.

The Seiko Presage SARY057 is presented with a clean and elegant black dial.

Is there a more versatile and elegant dial color than black? We think not. It looks sporty but at the same time very clean, which makes it just as suitable with a suit as for everyday wear. With a black dial, you simply cannot go wrong. The black dial also has a polished and shiny finish to it which enhances its elegant look.

The dial has applied metal hour markers with bevels to reflect the light beautifully. 

Positioned at 3 o’clock, the watch has a day and date window with a beveled metal frame around it. It has a black background that blends into the dial very well.

Around the edge of the dial, the split-seconds and seconds are printed.

The hands are made in polished metal and have a dauphine style and design. The hands do not have any Lumibrite to them which makes them look more refined and clean.

Seiko has made sure to keep the dial clean when it comes to the text on the dial. At 12 o’clock, it has an applied Seiko logo, and beneath the center of the hands, the text ”Automatic”.

The SARY057 is powered by the in-house Seiko caliber 4R36. This is a movement with both hacking seconds and manual-winding functions. These are two functions that are not found in Seiko’s most affordable automatic watches.

As mentioned earlier, this watch has a see-through case back which allows you to see the movement beating inside. Looking at the movement, you will find that this movement is equipped with a gold rotor. This gold rotor is used to give the movement a more luxurious and elegant look, which is a great detail that goes well with the ethos of the Presage.

The movement has a power reserve of approximately 41 hours and is equipped with 24 jewels. It is sturdy and reliable and will continue to tick for years to come.
