Top 14 Best Invicta Watches [List & Guide]

You could say that in some ways, Invicta is a watch brand that splits opinions. But at the same time, it is also a watch brand that has a place in the watch market. The criticism usually comes from devoted watch nerds because Invicta watches are generally not pieces of fine mechanical craftsmanship. In addition, they also tend to have some quite extraordinary and bold designs.

But if that is what you are looking for, and at an affordable price, Invicta may still be for you.

Invicta watches history

Invicta is a watch brand with a long and rich history. In fact, it is so old that its history goes all the way back to 1837 when the company was founded as a Swiss watch company by Raphael Picard in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The history of Invicta hasn’t been crystal-clear, however. The company went bankrupt in the early 1980s and was eventually sold to Ondix S.A in 1983. The company continued to produce Invicta watches in Bielle, Switzerland.

Due to the declining popularity of Invicta and the number of watches sold, the company went bankrupt. The Invicta brand would remain resting for some years until 1991 when it was acquired and re-established by an American company.

Today, Invicta watches is based in Hollywood Florida. This history is very interesting because today, Invicta is seen strictly as an American company although it has roots and a long history in Switzerland- the land of watchmaking. As a matter of fact, if you look at the vintage Invicta watches the brand produced during this time, they’ll look nothing like what you associate with Invicta today. These timepieces are just as elegant as vintage Longines, Omega, or Tissot watches during this time because they followed the watch trends at the time. Also, being based in Switzerland naturally affected this as well. But since then, Invicta has taken a whole new direction. Whilst some brands like Rolex and Omega seek inspiration from their vintage past, the impression is that Invicta looks forward to the future.

Another reason why this connection has gotten lost throughout the decades and in recent times is that it is not the brand’s focus. Invicta primarily focuses on making stylish fashion watches for those who want a sporty and stylish affordable timepiece. Invicta’s main target audience today isn’t hard-core watch enthusiasts.

In this article, we are looking closer at the best and most popular Invicta watches for all styles, tastes, and preferences.

Invicta Speedway Steel Chronograph 9211

amazon

First up on this list is the Invicta Speedway Chronograph reference 9211. This watch actually stands out from what Invicta is most known for – making bold, large, and bulky timepieces. Instead, this is a classic, elegant, and versatile timepiece with a sporty design. And its design is obviously inspired by one of the most iconic watches in the world, the Rolex Daytona.

I love the fact that this watch has a 39.5mm case which is essentially the same as a Daytona. This means that it will suit many different wrist sizes and not feel too bulky and chunky on the wrist. The case has a mineral crystal on top and a fixed polished bezel with a tachymeter scale engraved on it. The thickness is also very reasonable at 14mm.

The dial is simple and clean but it achieves this without compromising on details that ensure it remains relevant and isn’t perceived as boring. It has a white background with a textured finish which provides some depth to the watch. The dial has applied metal hour markers with luminescence on them, as well as Daytona-inspired hands that look almost as if they were taken directly from a Daytona. A nice design touch to this watch is that the three chronograph sub-dials have black frames around them which give this Invicta a distinct panda look. For the sake of everyday convenience, Invicta has also added a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The chronograph measures 60min, 60sec, and 24 hours.

The watch is powered by a Japanese quartz movement, specifically the caliber VD53B-14. Whilst watch enthusiasts may prefer a mechanical movement, this one is robust and reliable.

The water resistance of this watch is also quite good at 200m/660 feet which is quite impressive seeing that this is not a dive watch, but rather a racing watch. Still, it’s good to have reasonable water resistance if you go swimming and don’t want to take it off.

Invicta describes this watch as a timepiece that ”offers a bold accent to both business wear and casual dress.” and we would certainly agree with that description. It is a timepiece that works perfectly for everyday wear and virtually any occasion.

Maybe best of all is that this watch costs less than 100 USD, so it can be classified as extremely affordable. And if you consider the price, it is difficult to complain about some of the shortcomings such as ”only” a quartz movement and a cheap feeling of quality of the bracelet. But that is because this watch is cheap. And it still punches well above its own weight with the value that it offers.

  • Diameter: 39.5mm
  • Thickness: 14mm
  • Movement: Japanese quartz VD53B-14
  • Water resistance: 200m/660 feet

Invicta Speedway Gold & steel Chronograph 9212

amazon

If you liked the Invicta Speedway above and enjoy the look of a classic, stylish chronograph, this is a more elegant and luxurious version that has a ”two-tone” yellow gold and steel finish. The watch has the same stainless steel case with a diameter of 39.5mm, but when it comes to the gold touch, it comes in the form of a yellow-gold finish bezel. The tachymeter scale is of course found engraved on it. To go with the yellow gold theme, it is presented on a three-link Oyster-style bracelet with yellow gold middle links and steel outer links with a folding clasp.

For the dial, Invicta has opted for a white dial which gives a fresh and elegant look and pairs well with the yellow gold. Instead of black panda sub-dials, it has yellow gold sub-dials which go perfectly with the yellow gold theme. The dial also has applied metal hour markers with luminescence applied to them.

Powering this watch is the Japanese quartz caliber VD53B-14 and as mentioned earlier, the water resistance of this watch is quite good at 200m/660 feet which means you can go diving and swimming with it without any problems. And this is particularly great considering that this isn’t even a dive watch.

In Invicta’s own words ”Conveying time with the utmost sophistication while keeping in mind the needs of the active sportsman”.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 39.5mm
  • Thickness: 14mm
  • Movement: Japanese quartz VD53B-14
  • Crystal: Mineral glass

Invicta Pro Diver Automatic 5053

amazon

If you want a classic and sporty dive watch with a colorful twist, this Pro Diver 5053 is a great affordable choice. This watch has a 40mm stainless steel case and a thickness of 14mm with a classic design that is very evidently inspired by the iconic Rolex Submariner. The crown sits protected between crown guards and the case has brushed lugs with polished sides. It’s interesting to see how a watch in this price range, can have such a well-finished case with nice attention to detail. Of course, being a dive watch, it has a unidirectional rotating bezel. The bezel features an aluminum insert, which is also the first splash of color on this watch. Half of the bezel is blue and the other half is red. At 12 o’clock, it has a luminous pip as well.

To match the bezel, it has a dark blue dial with applied metal hour markers filled with luminescence. The hands are filled with luminescence as well. The lime isn’t the best and there is room for improvement here. But at the same time, I feel like all of these small things that Invicta can improve can be overlooked considering its low price. Because despite this, it’s still a watch that offers great value for money.

Positioned at 3 o’clock, you’ll also find a date window. The mineral crystal has a cyclops right above it which helps improve the legibility.

Something that watch enthusiasts who are just starting to dip their toes in the world of horology is that it is powered by the automatic Japanese caliber NH35A. This movement has 24 jewels and can also be seen through the see-through case back.

The thing I love most about this watch is that it is not just a watch with a dive-inspired watch. In addition, it also has the water-resistance to back it up. The water resistance of 200m/660 feet means that you can go diving and swimming without any issues.

All in all, this is a versatile timepiece that works perfectly in particular on sporty and casual occasions. And with its colorful design, it is perfect for a day on the beach or by the pool.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 40mm
  • Thickness: 14mm
  • Movement: Japanese automatic caliber NH35A
  • Crystal: Mineral glass
  • Water resistance: 200m/660 feet

Invicta Specialty 45mm Chronograph 6621

amazon

The Invicta Speciality Chronograph 6621 is a sporty and masculine timepiece that shows a little bit about what Invicta is perhaps most known for – large, bulky, cool, and masculine timepieces. At the same time, it is not the boldest and most busy watch that Invicta offers, so it’s still a great choice if you just want a sporty timepiece that has a little more going on.

It features a 45mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.5mm. The crown is protected by a crown guard, and the case appears slightly larger due to the added chronograph pushers on the sides. What stands out about this watch is the unique bezel design with sporty edges. In turn, the bezel has a blue aluminum bezel insert.

The dial has a relatively large and sloped chapter ring on which the tachymeter scale is printed. The center of the dial is blue as well and also has a nice brushed sunburst finish which reflects the light beautifully. The dial features large white Arabic numerals which go well together with its sporty purpose and perhaps slightly pilot’s-inspired design. Since this is a chronograph it also has three chronograph sub-dials placed on the dial. Between 4 and 5 o’clock, it also has a date window discreetly tucked in. The hands are sword-shaped and relatively thin, but they are filled with luminescence, so they provide a relatively good contrast against the background. The legibility is at least not something that we can complain about.

This isn’t really a dive watch, so its water resistance of 100m should be enough for most occasions. It can handle water splashes and even short periods of swimming. Last but not least, it is powered by a quartz movement.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 45mm
  • Thickness: 12.5mm
  • Movement: Japanese quartz caliber VD53B-14
  • Water resistance: 100m/330 feet

Invicta Pro Diver gold 8929OB

amazon

We have already looked at one of Invicta’s Pro Diver watches, but this one stands out from the crowd and is a great choice for those who enjoy the look of dive watches, but also want something more unique, flashy, and bold. That’s right, this is a watch finished completely in yellow gold.

It has a 30mm yellow gold-tone case and is presented on a matching three-link Oyster style yellow-gold tone bracelet. The bezel is finished in gold as well but has a nicely contrasting black aluminum bezel insert as well as a luminous pip at 12 o’clock.

For contrast, the dial is black as well and has applied metal hour markers with yellow gold frames and a luminescent filling. The date window at 3 o’clock with a cyclops above it remains the same. The same goes for the movement, which is an automatic Japanese caliber NH35A.

The water resistance is still quite good at 200m/660 feet and suitable for both diving and swimming.

All in all, this Invicta Pro Driver takes all of the classic and traditional design features of a dive watch and finishes that in an all-gold look. With that said, it achieves a very interesting combination of elegance and sportiness. All-gold watches are not for everyone, but it is sure to make a statement and stand out from the ordinary.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 40mm
  • Thickness: 14mm
  • Movement: Japanese automatic NH35A
  • Water resistance: 200m/660 feet

Invicta I-Force Specialty Chronograph 13787

amazon

If you want a sporty timepiece with a masculine appeal, this all-black Invicta Speciality I-Force Chronograph 13787 is the answer to your needs.

First and foremost, it is presented with a blacked-out case with a large size of 45mm. The thickness, however, is kept relatively reasonable at 12mm. To add to its sportiness, it is presented on a blacked-out steel bracelet. Naturally, the dial is black as well. However, this does not harm the legibility in any way. In fact, quite the opposite. Around the outer edge of the dial, it has a tachymeter scale printed in white. On the dial, it has square hour markers with metal frames applied featuring luminescent material. One step in, it has large applied hour markers which also help with the legibility. But perhaps the most important thing is the very large hands which have a generous amount of luminescence on them.

Moving on to the functions, we see two sub-dials on the dial which indicate 60 seconds and 60 minutes. At 3 o’clock, there is a date window that also shows the date prior, and the date after, the current day.

Powering it is a Japanese quartz movement caliber VD51. Nothing too special about this movement, but it is accurate and durable.

The water resistance is decent at 100m/330 feet, but this is more of a pilot’s watch, so it’s not that we are expecting great water resistance.

All in all, with its all-black design and bold pilot’s-inspired design, this is a masculine and bold timepiece that stands out amongst many sports watches, but still has a classic and clean design.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 45mm
  • Thickness: 12mm
  • Movement: Japanese quartz VD51
  • Water-resistance: Water-resistance: 100m/330 feet

Invicta Pro Diver Grand Diver

amazon

The Invicta Pro Driver Grand Diver is a clean and simple dive watch with a classic dive-watch-inspired design, very evidently inspired by the iconic Rolex Submariner.

The watch has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 47mm, so a bit on the large side. And it has a thickness of 14.44mm. As a dive watch should, it is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black aluminum insert and a luminous pip at 12 o’clock.

This watch is powered by a Japanese Automatic movement, the caliber NH35A which has 24 jewels. Also, this movement can be seen through the see-through case back, which is a nice touch to its design, which is surely going to be appreciated by watch enthusiasts.

For a sporty and versatile look, it is presented on a three-link Oyster-Style bracelet with a fold-over clasp. Like most Invicta watches, it has a mineral crystal on top.

I must say that the highlight of this watch is its water resistance. When it comes to affordable dive watches, they usually just have a dive-inspired design with pretty low water resistance. But this one has the depth rating to back it up with a water resistance of 300m/660 feet.

The dial has an emphasis on legibility with a black background and large applied metal hour markers filled with luminescence. The hands are relatively large and have an arrow shape which ensures great legibility. At 3 o’clock, there is also a date window with a cyclops on top to help read the date.

  • Thickness: 14.44mm
  • Movement: Japanese automatic caliber NH35A

The watch has a large stainless steel case with a diameter of 48mm and a thickness of 12.5mm. The lugs are thick and the crown, as well as crown guards, are big. Essentially, all details of this watch are oversized. The watch is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel with a black aluminum insert and also incorporates a chronograph function.

For reliability, it is powered by the Japanese quartz caliber VD53.

The dial is black and has applied hour markers with skeleton-shaped hands. Between 4 and 5 o’clock, Invicta has added a date window, which also has a cyclops on top for easier reading. On the dial, we find three chronograph sub-dials which indicate 60min, 60sec, and 24 hours.

The water resistance is also quite good on this watch, considering it’s a dive watch, and it has a water resistance of 200m/660 feet.

Invicta Aviator 48mm Chronograph 17203

First off, it has a large stainless steel case with a diameter of 48mm and a thickness of 12.5mm. This creates a nice contrast against the steel and makes it slightly more interesting and unique. The watch is presented on a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

Invicta Pro Diver Scuba 48mm Gold Tone 6981

amazon

The Invicta Pro Diver Scuba is a bulky dive watch with a bold and unique design. The watch has a yellow gold case with a diameter of 48mm which is obviously huge and only suitable for men with large wrists who have a preference for large watches. The thickness is also quite large at 16.8mm.

The yellow gold case is contrasted by a black aluminum bezel insert which sits on the unidirectional rotating bezel. The dial is black and has quite a bit going on. It has applied metal hour markers filled with luminescence and two balanced chronograph sub-dials as well as a sub-dial at 6 o’clock. These indicate 60min, 60sec, and 24 hours.

Part of the dial where the date wheel is has been cut out so you can see parts of it. This doesn’t fill any practical purpose, but it helps make the dial look cooler and perhaps more balanced. To not cover all of the dial functions, the watch has skeletonized hands.

It is powered by the Japanese quartz caliber VD53.

Whilst it has a very bold and sporty design, the water resistance is ”only” 100m. It is not suitable for diving, but it can handle swimming. With that said, it’s more of a sporty everyday watch for those who want a watch with a bold and bulky design.

Specifications

  • Diameter: 48mm
  • Thickness: 16.8mm
  • Movement: Japanese quartz caliber VD53B-14
  • Water resistance: 100m/330 feet

Are Invicta watches Swiss made?

If you consider the extremely affordable prices of Invicta watches, it’s not surprising that most Invicta watches are not Swiss-made. Invicta has some Swiss-made watches, but most of them are actually not made in Switzerland. Invicta does have a dedicated Swiss-made section on its website where you can find all their Swiss-made watches. With this said, Invicta does promote itself as a Swiss watchmaker to some extent, but as mentioned, while they do make some Swiss-made watches, most of them aren’t.

With that said, we can say that Invicta is an American company that produces some Swiss Made watches, but it is not a Swiss company, nor fully dedicated to making exclusively Swiss watches.

One of the reasons why Invicta continues to promote itself as a Swiss brand, apart from the prestige that comes with it, is that Invicta is originally a Swiss company. As discussed earlier, Invicta was founded as a Swiss watch company in 1837 by Raphael Picard in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, however, it was re-established in 1991 and was acquired by an American company.

Are Invicta watches good?

This is always a hard question to answer because price always needs to be part of the equation. But if we consider the affordable prices of Invicta watches, we can definitely say that they offer good value for money and offer good quality compared to other alternatives in the same price range.

The fact that some of the company’s watches are swiss made is positive as it means they are powered by a Swiss movement and offer the Swiss reliability and craftsmanship that Swiss watches have become famous for. But again, far from all watches by Invicta are Swiss made.

But even then, the watches that are not made in Switzerland are priced extremely affordable, and with this said, we can say that Invicta are quite good for the price.

Are Invicta watches waterproof?

This ultimately depends on the model, as you can see in the specifications of each watch above. Plenty of Invicta watches have great water resistance at 200m, meaning you can go swimming and diving with them. If you need a watch that is water resistant, make sure you read the specifications and opt for a watch that has appropriate water resistance.

If you’re only planning on going swimming, it is advised that you choose a watch that has a water resistance of at least 100m.

The Invicta watches that are water-resistant to 200m or more are actually suitable for diving with as well.

Are Invicta watches made by Rolex?

No, although some Invicta watches are quite clearly inspired by Rolex watches, in particular the Submariner, Invicta watches are not made by Rolex, nor are affiliated with the company in any way. Invicta and Rolex are two completely different and separate companies.

The Invicta Pro diver is sometimes compared with the Rolex Submariner as it is an affordable homage, but Invicta likely just took inspiration from one of the most iconic watches ever made.

Why is Invicta so cheap?

Invicta is a company that has become associated with extremely cheap and affordable watches. There are a few reasons why Invicta has managed to hold a relatively high quality yet still keep the prices really low. First off, Invicta outsources a large part of its manufacturing to China, keeping labor and production costs down. In addition, Invicta doesn’t make its own movements nor develop them. In addition, Invicta focuses on quantity, which means large production numbers and ultimately lower prices per unit.

Are Invicta watches real gold?

No, due to the fact that solid gold watches are extremely expensive (at least a few thousand dollars), Invicta watches are naturally not made in real gold. Instead, Invicta’s watches are gold-toned but do not actually contain any real gold.

Are Invicta Luxury Watches?

No, Invicta is not a luxury brand nor is it trying to be. Invicta focuses on making extremely affordable watches, and this does naturally not correlate with the idea of a luxury brand. At the same time, some Invicta watches are designed to look like luxury watches with rather flashy designs. So if you want a seriously affordable watch that looks more luxurious and flashy than its price tag suggests, Invicta could be a suitable choice.
