Hamilton Khaki Field h70455733 Review & Complete Guide
Hamilton is a watch brand with a long and interesting heritage. Originally founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, the company moved its operations to Switzerland – the country of watchmaking.
This move showed that Hamilton was serious about mechanical watchmaking. Later acquired by the Swatch Group, Hamilton continuously developed and improved its products, backed by the expertise and know-how of the group.
The brand is perhaps most famous for its military-inspired field watches, which has to do with the fact that Hamilton has a rich history of manufacturing military watches for soldiers, most notably for the US military during world war two. In modern times, the most popular collection from Hamilton is the Khaki field, which consists of just that – field watches, with inspiration from vintage military watches.
Hamilton watches are well-built and reliable. They combined heritage and history with the solid build quality and long-lasting reliability.
In this article, we are reviewing and looking closer at the Hamilton Khaki Field h70455733.

In Hamilton’s own words:
”Are you looking for the ideal military watch ? The Khaki Field collection includes classic army style watches that have been tried and tested over time. Rugged, robust and resilient, they’re ready for the outdoors and can compete with the best sport watches out there. Built for life’s adventurers, they’re guaranteed to be equal to your needs out in the field.”
With that said, the h70455733 is a rugged watch that is built to last, and one that you can rely on. It is the perfect watch for those who find appeal in military-inspired tool watches with a touch of vintage inspiration. Let’s see what it is all about.
Hamilton Khaki Field h70455733 case
The watch is presented with a stainless steel case with a diameter of 38mm. With that said, it is quite small for a sports watch, but considering where it seeks its inspiration from, it is just right. Military watches back in the day were made small. In fact, they often measured 34mm in diameter. This one has been made slightly bigger to better suit the size ideals of today, but at 38mm, and with a thickness of 11mm, it will sit neatly and discreetly on the wrist.
The case is completely satin-finished with a circular-brushed pattern at the top to give it that sporty and tool-like look. This is, of course, with one exception, which is the bezel. The bezel has a polished finish which works as a nice contrast and helps make it ever so slightly more elegant, without losing its sportiness.
The case shape is executed just the way vintage Hamilton watches were made. The lugs are curved. Positioned at 3 o’clock, we have a large crown that adds personality to the design. The crown is a push-pull, which is fine seeing that it is not a dive watch. But at the same time, the watch still offers a water resistance of 100m/330 feet. This means it is suitable for swimming, showering, snorkeling, etc. but just not scuba diving.
Overall, the case is well-finished and gives a nice impression of quality.
Sitting on top of the case, we have a sapphire crystal which is a really nice touch too.
Hamilton Khaki Field h70455733 dial
The dial is very much inspired by vintage military watches as well. It is black and has white Arabic numerals painted on it.
Around the outer edge of the dial, the seconds markers are printed in white. At each five-minute marking, it has a luminous dot which helps with legibility in low-lit conditions. At each five-minute position, we also have the minutes printed in white, too.
Moving in towards the center, we first notice large Arabic numerals from 1 to 12 for the regular time. Inside this, there are also 24-hour Arabic numerals printed in traditional military fashion which is used for the 24-hour clock (GMT markers).
The hands are well-executed and are clearly inspired by vintage military watches. They are sword-shaped with pointy tips, have polished metal frames, and have generous amounts of luminescent material applied to them. The dial is completely monochrome with black and white except for the arrow-tipped seconds hand which has a touch of red. This is a subtle yet important feature that does a lot to the overall appearance of this watch.
Positioned at 3 o’clock, we find the date window. It has a painted white frame around it, with a white background and the date printed in black, providing excellent legibility.
The dial is also divided into two sections, where the center is slightly raised and polished, and the outer ring has a very subtle pattern.
Legibility is key for a field watch, and this is something that the h70455733 offers.
Movement
The watch is powered by the Hamilton H-10 caliber which is a rugged and reliable movement that won’t let you down. It is known to be a robust workhorse movement that will continue to tick for years. This is of course exactly what we need and expect in a tool watch like this. It is based on the ETA C07.111, which makes sense considering Swatch Group also owns ETA, so this partnership comes naturally.
The movement boasts an impressive power reserve of 80 hours, and if you turn the watch around, you’ll be able to see the movement beating away. Furthermore, it has 25 Jewels and beats at 21600 vph.
Speaking of the movement, you’ll notice that it has some decoration, which is nice to see. The rotor has cutouts with the Hamilton logo and name.
Hamilton Khaki Field h70455733 strap
The watch is presented on a black cow leather strap which has a military/vintage-inspired design with off-white stitching. It has a width of 18mm and goes very well together with the design of the watch.
