Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SRPB47 Review & Complete Guide
Seiko uses different formats of reference numbers, hence why this is sometimes referred to as the SRPB47J1.
The Seiko Presage collection is a lineup of timepieces that are built as classy and elegant timepieces but with a solid and robust build quality with impressive attention to detail which punches well above their own weight.
In turn, the Seiko Presage Cocktail collection consists of timepieces which, as the name suggests, are inspired by cocktails, and are developed together with a famous Japanese bartender. There are many different timepieces in the Presage Cocktail lineup which have different designs and looks, but they do have a few distinct design features which are standard for all of them. This includes ”slim, shining markers, evoking the stem of a cocktail glass” and ”classical box-shaped Hardlex crystal with delicately curved hands”.
It’s easy to see why the Presage Cocktail time has become so immensely popular. At a very attractive price, you get a solid, robust, and incredibly well-finished timepiece with amazing attention to detail which you usually only find in much more expensive timepieces. With that said, they combine a beautiful balance between elegance and sportiness, making them extremely versatile and great for everyday wear.
In this article, we are looking closer at one of these timepieces, specifically the reference SRPB47.

Seiko Presage Cocktail Time SRPB47 case
The SRPB47 features a stainless steel case with a diameter of 40.5mm and a thickness of 11.8mm. For a men’s watch, this is a rather good and balanced size which isn’t too big nor too small. A too-small watch risks becoming too formal and elegant, whilst a too-big watch can risk becoming too clumsy and sporty. But this particular watch has found a good balance, allowing it to work on virtually any occasion.
The actual case design is elegantly executed and completely polished in order to achieve that elegant look. The lugs are relatively short and blend into the case design nicely which allows most of your focus to end up on the dial.
Positioned at 3 o’clock, it has a large oversized push-pull crown. Because the crown is not a screw-down, the water resistance isn’t the best, but this is not something we expect from an elegant/dressy watch either. The watch has a water resistance of 50M/165 feet which, in practice, essentially means that it is resistant to water splashes but should not be submerged underwater.
The sides of the watch are polished, just like the lugs and the bezel. Speaking of the bezel, this is also thin, fixed, and polished, which, again, directs your focus to the dial.
Sitting on top of the case, the watch uses a box-shaped Hardlex crystal.
Seiko SRPB47 dial
What makes this particular watch stand out from other Presage Cocktail watches is its white/silver dial with copper-colored accents.
A signature design feature of the Presage Cocktail watches is their incredibly finished dial with a sunburst-inspired finish with deep groves which reflect the light beautifully and gives it a look out of the ordinary. The dial finish is truly something special that changes its appearance depending on how the light hits it and simply looks extremely elegant.
The dial has, as mentioned, slim, shining markers, evoking the stem of a cocktail glass, which goes together with the ”Cocktail Time” name. For this particular watch, the hands and markers have a copper color which contrasts the dial really well and creates a stunning contrast. They add warmth to the dial and make it appear much more elegant.
For practicality, the watch has a date window positioned at 3 o’clock. The date window has a copper metal frame and the background is colored white, allowing it to blend in relatively well into the dial design. In addition, for an everyday watch, a date function can be a practical thing to have.
The hands are designed to match the indices of the watch, have a polished finish, and beveling, which allows them to reflect the light in a beautiful way.
In addition, the copper markers and hands contrasted by the silver/off-white dial make the legibility really good, and they also provide a slight vintage feel.
Overall, the dial finish and decoration really enhance the watch’s overall appearance and make it appear much more luxurious than its price tag suggests.
Presage Cocktail Time SRPB47 movement
The watch is powered by the Seiko automatic caliber 4R35. This is an automatic movement with both hacking seconds and manual winding capabilities.
The movement operates at 21600 BPH, has 23 jewels, and a power reserve of 41 hours. The 4R35 has proven to be a robust and sturdy movement that can keep operating for years without any maintenance. This is a great thing considering the fact that this is likely to be worn as an everyday watch, and in this case, you simply want to be able to put it on the wrist and it just works.
A detail to this movement that is only added to the Presage Cocktail watches is its gold rotor. Whilst the movement is not decorated, it adds a touch of elegance and luxury when admiring it through the see-through case back.
SRPB47 bracelet
The SRPB47 is fitted on a stainless steel bracelet with polished and brushed elements which goes very well with the overall design of the watch. The bracelet is elegant and classy, but also has a sense of sportiness to it, making it perfect regardless if you’re wearing jeans or a suit.
The downside is, however, that the bracelet does not feel completely solid and does have some rattle. The bracelet is often the part that is compromised with the most when it comes to affordable timepieces, so it’s not a big surprise. The bracelet isn’t terrible, but there is certainly room for improvement.
But the good news is that it looks great.
