NEWS! Rolex Presents New Submariner 126613LB
Rolex has officially presented its new collection of timepieces for 2020. This means that certain watches have also been discontinued. It’s safe to say that 2020 is the year of the Submariner. In an effort of introducing the new generation caliber into the Submariners, Rolex has upgraded and updated all of the Submariner watches. With that said, Rolex discontinued the predecessor Submariner 116613LB two-tone Submariner with blue Ceramic bezel and blue sunburst dial in favor of a new, improved, and revised version. This watch carries the reference number 126613LB.
Rolex Submariner 126613LB Updates
Probably the most iconic watch model in the world is the Rolex Submariner.
It’s important to remember that Rolex is about evolution, not revolution. Therefore, the changes from the predecessor are important, but they are not huge. The Submariner was originally presented in 1953 as a monochrome black and white timepiece. but in 1988, Rolex presented a yellow gold and steel version with a blue bezel and blue dial to give it a fresh new look. With the introduction of the new Maxi case, Rolex discontinued the 16613 in favor of the new 116613LB with ceramic bezel and a larger, revised case.
The most important upgrade to this watch means moving from the caliber 3135 to the new generation caliber 3235. In addition, Rolex has also changed the case diameter from 40 to 41mm. In theory, this could be viewed as a big deal, but at the same time, Rolex has also made the lugs slimmer, which makes it wear slightly better on the wrist. In addition to this, Rolex has also decided to make the dial printing in white/silver instead of the previous gilt color.
The size difference is however quite a big deal from a historical standpoint. Rolex has always made the Submariner no more than 40mm, and this is the first time that Rolex steps across the line.
The bracelet has also been slightly reworked, which means it is wider from its end-links. Small changes can really make for a big difference, and Rolex really is the best possible proof of that.
