The Seiko Chronograph SND367 is a sporty chronograph with a masculine appearance. This timepiece is widely appreciated for its smaller size which makes it perfect for those with slightly smaller wrists, or simply those who enjoy wearing small watches.
In terms of design, the SND367 is rather classic and does not stand out too much. It is monochrome with solely white, black, and silver details, it has a classic dial layout, and is a watch that is very straightforward without a lot of fuzz.
What is very evident, however, is that this watch offers impressive value for money. It’s a chronograph, has a nice finish, is robust, durable, and is offered at an affordable price. This means that you can subject it to shocks and bangs, and it should despite this hold up very well.
Without further ado, let’s review the Seiko Chronograph SND367
Seiko Chronograph SND367 case
The Seiko SND367 is presented with a stainless steel case with a diameter of 38mm excluding the crown and 40mm including the crown. The thickness measures only 10mm.
With that said, it is a rather small watch. In particular for being a chronograph. This makes it perfect for those who enjoy smaller watches, but it also makes it a very versatile timepiece for a wide audience. In fact, 38mm works great on small wrists and even on women. According to many, it is its size that is its main unique selling point as most chronographs on the market tend to be larger.
The case design of the watch is quite clean, elegant, and classic. We have a brushed finish on top of the lugs, and the sides are beveled. This is a really nice feature that truly enhances the watch’s impression of quality and finish.
Furthermore, the sides of the case are polished too, offering a nice contrast against the brushed top. The bezel on the watch is fixed and has a polished finish. It does also, however, have a tachymeter scale engraved on it, and filled in with black color. This adds some sportiness to the watch but also serves the practical function of working together with the chronograph to measure elapsed time.
At 3 o’clock, the watch has a push-pull crown. The crown sits protected between crown guards which extend from the case. On each side of the crown guards, we have the chronograph pushers nicely integrated.
The watch offers a water resistance of 100m/330 feet. This means it is suitable for water splashes, showering, and swimming, but is not suitable for deep diving.
Sitting on top of the case, it uses, not unsurprisingly, Seiko’s proprietary Hardlex crystal.
Seiko Chronograph SND367 dial
The dial of the watch is rather straightforward, clean, and classic. It has a black base with a slight sunburst finish. This means it is not pure black and flat, but also has some life to it when the sunlight hits it, which is a nice detail. The chronograph sub-dials are positioned at 6, 9, and 12 o’clock. The sub-dials display hours, minutes, and sub-seconds with a minimum resolution of 1/20 seconds and a maximum duration of 720 minutes. The central seconds hand can be used together with the chronograph function to either measure seconds, or elapsed time.
Positioned at 3 o’clock, we find a date window with a white painted frame around it. Considering most people will use this as a sporty everyday watch, the date is a function that can come in really handy in your everyday life.
The hands of the watch are clean and straightforward with a sword shape, polished metal frame around them, and with Lumibrite applied for improved legibility. The dial has applied rectangular hour markers which also have Lumibrite on them for improved legibility. Around the outer edge of the dial, it has an angled inner bezel ring on which 60-seconds are printed in 5-minute increments.
With its combination of a black background and white hands and markers, the legibility is actually quite good on this watch.
Seiko SND367 movement
The watch is powered by the in-house Seiko quartz caliber 7T92. Whilst some people prefer a mechanical movement, having a quartz movement is practical for several reasons. Firstly, it makes the watch more affordable. A mechanical movement to feature all of these functions would be much more complicated and thus more expensive. Furthermore, quartz watches are far more accurate than mechanical watches. They are also more affordable to maintain, so as you can see, there are some benefits to this too. Some may find that in an everyday watch, it may be a good thing to have a quartz watch for practical reasons.
The movement has a power reserve/battery life of up to 3 years.
Seiko SND367 bracelet
The watch is presented on a stainless steel three-fold clasp. It has a lug width of the classic 20mm. The size of the bracelet can be adjusted via pins, but it does not have screws, which is common on watches/bracelets that are more affordable.
The downside of these types of affordable watches is often that the bracelet is the part that is compromised with the most. This is also the case here. Whilst the bracelet looks good and goes very well together with the overall design of the watch, it does have some rattle and does not feel 100% solid.
The good news is that the watch also looks great on various straps. And the 20mm lug width gives a large selection of straps to choose from.
