Seiko Presage Cocktail Lady SRP855 Review & Complete Guide
As with most of its watches, Seiko uses different formats for its reference numbers. This is known as SRP855 and SRP855j1.
If you are a lady who is looking for an elegant and stylish automatic timepiece for everyday wear, the SRP855 is a great alternative. In fact, even if you are a male and simply enjoy small wristwatches, this may be for you.
The Seiko Presage Cocktail collection is a line of watches that are made with elegance and durability in mind. This collection consists of timepieces that are built to last, are powered by an automatic movement, and work just as well on formal occasions as on casual occasions.
We don’t usually review ladies’ watches, but Seiko has done such a good job with this watch that we simply cannot neglect it.
As the name suggests, the Presage Cocktail time collection consists of timepieces that are inspired by cocktails and made in collaboration with a famous Japanese bartender. They are particularly appreciated for their impressive attention to detail with beautiful accents and details, not to mention their striking dials which remind of those that you usually see in far more expensive timepieces.

Another fun detail is that this is the first Presage Cocktail watch to be made especially for women.
This watch is certainly one that stands out from the ordinary and offers exceptional value for money.
Without further ado, let’s review the Seiko Presage Cocktail Lady SRP855 and see what it has to offer.
Seiko Presage Cocktail Lady SRP855 case
The watch is presented with a stainless steel case which has a diameter of 33.8mm, a thickness of 11.3mm, and a lug-to-lug of 40.4mm. With that said, since it is a ladies’ watch, it has a reasonable size, but it is by no means tiny. As mentioned, this can even be suitable for men who enjoy smaller watches as well.
In terms of design, it stays true to that of the Presage Cocktail collection which means elegantly integrated lugs and a completely polished finish on the sides and top for a classy look.
The lugs have an elegant curved design made in a rectangular shape. At 3 o’clock, it has a relatively large crown which makes setting the time easy. In our opinion, it also adds to the overall design of the watch. The crown is a push-pull and not a screw-down, which also affects its water resistance. This watch has a water resistance of 50M, which in practice means it can withstand water splashes but should not be submerged underwater. This is fine seeing that this is not a sports watch.
The watch has a thin fixed polished steel bezel which is a signature design trait of the Presage Cocktail. This leaves all the room for the dial to stand out and catch your full focus. After all, the dial is the star of the show of the watches in this collection, and the case is only meant to complement it.
On top of the case, the watch uses a box-shaped Hardlex crystal which gives the watch character and provides a slight vintage touch.
Presage Cocktail Lady SRP855 dial
The watch is presented with a beautiful silver/champagne-colored dial with a grooved sunburst pattern. This is by no means your ordinary sunburst finish, but rather a deeply grooved finish that provides depth and creates a stunning look. Thanks to this dial execution, it turns into a dial out of the ordinary.
For added elegance and attention to detail, the dial has applied copper-colored polished hour markers with bevelings that reflect the light beautifully. According to Seiko, the hour markers are inspired by the stem of a cocktail glass. Furthermore, the hands of the watch also match the hour markers perfectly with their copper color, beveled finish, and sleek design.
The copper against the silver background looks really great and adds warmth to the dial. These details stand out from the ordinary and give it a vintage yet modern look.
Positioned at 3 o’clock, Seiko has added a date window with a copper metal frame around it. For an everyday watch, the date function can be convenient for keeping track of the date with just a glance on the wrist.
All of these elements come together to create a stunning appearance which gives the impression that this is really finished to a great extent. Seiko has really paid attention to the details, which is really impressive considering its price.
SRP855 movement
The watch is powered by the in-house Seiko caliber 4R35. This is an automatic Seiko movement that operates at a frequency of 21600 BPH and features both hacking seconds and manual winding functions. It has 23 jewels and a power reserve of 41 hours thanks to the Spron 110 mainspring.
Like the other presage Cocktail time watches, it is also equipped with a see-through case back which allows you to admire the beautiful mechanical piece of craftsmanship. As an elegant touch to this model, the movement has a gold rotor, although not decorated.
All in all, this movement has proven to be a sturdy and robust workhorse that can continue to operate for years without any maintenance.
Bracelet
The watch is presented on an elegant stainless steel 5-link bracelet with a deployment clasp with a push-button release. The bracelet combines brushed with polished elements which keep it classy but also a bit sporty in order to achieve that versatile everyday wear feel.
In terms of build quality, the bracelet is not the best since it has some rattle and does not feel 100% solid, but this is the standard case for the more affordable watches, so it is definitely something we can live with considering its price. Plus, the bracelet still looks great and goes very well together with the overall design of the watch.
