NEWS! Tudor Releases Black Bay GMT Watches & Wonders 2022
Once a year, Tudor presents new watches. Now, it’s finally time to discover what Tudor has in store for us for 2022.
On the 30th of March 2022, Tudor officially presents a new Black Bay GMT!
Tudor released its first Black Bay GMT, reference 79830RB at Baselworld back in 2018 and it was met with great praise by the market. The “Pepsi”-bezel (black and blue) GMT presented a GMT function in the sporty and loved Black Bay case and lots of intricate vintage-inspired design details.
And whilst the Black Bay GMT 79830RB continues to be one of the most popular watches in the Tudor collection, people have, in recent years, hoped that Tudor would release more versions. One of the greatest feedback on the 79830RB has been, ever since it was released, that it was too big and too thick. And indeed, unless you have large wrists, the GMT does have some heft to it and sits quite tall on the wrist.
Whilst the Tudor 79830RB was a huge success, an issue relating to its movement started to appear for some of its watches, namely the date wheel issue. It proved to be a widespread issue that, according to Tudor, was because of lubrication issues. But Tudor has never publicly commented on this issue.
The 79830RB was released in 2018 and already after its launch, people started to speculate (and expect) that Tudor would release more variants in the future. One explanation as to why it took 4 years until Tudor released a new model could be the date wheel issue. Tudor received a lot of complaints and a lot of service claims for the 79830RB that they had to resolve for disappointed customers. Perhaps it could be that Tudor wanted to perfect the GMT movement before moving on to releasing more GMT watches to the market.
Introducing the Tudor Black Bay GMT 79833MN root beer
The 79830RB has been one of Tudor’s most popular Black Bay models ever since its conception in 2018. With this in mind, it’s safe to say that the new Black Bay GMT will be a huge success too.
This time, Rolex decided to introduce it in gold and steel, similar to Rolex’s iconic “Root beer” GMT.
At its core, the watch remains the same as the 79830RB. It has the same case shape and size, the same dial layout. The big difference is that the bracelet is made in yellow gold and stainless steel and that the case has a gold crown. It has an aluminium bezel insert with a combination of brown and black.
