Should You Purchase Gifts For Your Rolex AD?

Purchasing a Rolex watch nowadays, are for most people harder than you might think. The days were any model was available to try on and purchase, are gone. In 2022, almost any professional model, no matter in which material, is impossible to find with any Rolex authorized dealer (AD), and spontaneous purchase. In this article we’ll cover whether or not purchasing gifts for your AD is the right path to go, or not.

Rolex Shortage & Background

Walking into any Rolex store, and expecting them to have a professional Rolex watch, such as the Daytona, available is no longer possible in 2022. These models are highly sought after and tend to have higher demand than supply at any Rolex AD worldwide.

The Rolex shortage is a topic that we have covered many times, but again, it more or less means, that Rolex themselves cannot manufacture enough watches so that the high demand gets met. This causes that almost any professional model from Rolex cannot be delivered to each person that requests the watch, which then means that many clients would have to wait months, years even decades before they are allocated a watch. This causes many clients to try their way to cut queues.

How To Cut Queues On The Waiting List

There are many possible ways to cut the queues on any waiting list, and ultimately, for most Rolex ADs, their ambition is to have good clients who purchase more than just one watch, every once in a while, in order to provide watches that the client requests easier.

One way to cut the queue is of course to purchase more watches, more frequently, but most importantly from other brands than Rolex, if the Rolex AD also sells these. Rolex watches more or less sell themselves, and they really do not have to be displayed in any window in order to sell, as a simple phone call to a happy client often does the trick.

However, purchasing less sought-after watches, that often can be found in the display window, tends to help you significantly to climb higher up on the list, for the wanted Rolex watch that you are after.

Can I Purchase My Rolex AD Gifts?

Perhaps you are only looking for Rolex watches, and no other watches from any other brand, or perhaps does your Rolex AD only sell Rolex watches and no other brands, if this is the case, you might have asked yourself whether or not purchasing gifts for your Rolex AD can help you cut queues?

There are of course no one-answer to this. Whether or not it can be helpful solely depends on your AD, and the relationship you have with them from earlier.

It’s perhaps not so hard to figure out, that if you are looking for a special Rolex watch, such as the Daytona in steel reference 116500LN, by asking if you can have it delivered sooner if you were to purchase gifts for your Rolex AD, is not the brightest idea.

If you on the other hand already have a relationship with your salesperson at the AD, and perhaps have visited multiple times and they recognize you, or if you have purchased other watches previously from the AD, bringing a gift can cheer up the mood and perhaps help you get your wanted Rolex watches sooner.

Ultimately, it’s all about the friendship which you have developed with the store, and/or your salesperson.

What Gifts Can I Purchase For My AD?

If you decide to purchase a gift for your sales assistant, or AD, there are different types of gifts that perhaps might fit better than others.

If you are deciding to give a gift to your personal sales assistant, giving something which you both share an interest in, other than watches, can be a better gift. For instance, if you both are into whiskey, bringing a nicer bottle of whiskey is a nice gesture.

If you are giving something to the store, and not specifically a person, it must be something that is of use to all the working people at the AD. Bringing furniture on the other hand is not a good gift, as the store already is designed with the help of Rolex, and is not something that the AD is allowed to replace. The trick here is to give something not so complicated, that every staff appreciates of some sort.

Conclusion

What it ultimately comes down to, when the target is to cut queues and more easily be allocated a watch from your Rolex AD, is of course to have a good relationship from the beginning. Giving gifts is a nice gesture, but not something that solely will help you cut queues.
