Case
In terms of design, this watch is part of the G-Shock military-inspired series. To achieve this military-inspired look, Casio has made this watch with a full black finish matte. At 6 o’clock, you’ll find a big ion-plated ”G” button to blend in discreetly with the rest of the black look.
Of course, the case is executed with black resin and bumpers around the case to increase its durability and shock resistance. On top of the resin bezel, information about what each of these buttons do is written.
The watch of course comes on a matching black resin strap which is both durable and sporty.
The case has a diameter of 53.2mm, a thickness of 16.3mm, and a length of 50mm. It weighs in at about 67 grams. With that said, it is by no means a small watch, but this doesn’t come as a surprise. G-Shock watches are known to be large, bulky, and robust, so they will certainly have some presence on the wrist.
On top of the case, it uses Mineral glass. Of course, a watch like this needs good water resistance, and this one offers a water resistance of 200 meters/660 feet.
Dial
The dial of this watch isn’t really a dial, which is the case for most G-Shock watches.
Instead, it is presented with a number of different screens for the various functions. Firstly, it has a large LCD screen at the bottom. Around the inner part of the dial, you’ll find more information about the watch’s different functions.
Above the dial, we have three ”sub-screens” which display more information, but naturally, you’ll get the most information from the main screen.
With the buttons placed on the side of the case, you operate the various functions.
Movement & functions
As mentioned, this watch has Bluetooth connectivity and is, therefore, able to communicate with your iPhone. For convenience, it is able to notify you about incoming calls or emails. The watch cannot be used directly for interacting with those calls or texts, however, it will inform you about them, ensuring that you never miss a notification.
The watch incorporates solar charging which is a practical feature ensuring that you won’t have to replace the battery. For accuracy, it uses Atomic timekeeping, and this watch has an accuracy of +/-15 seconds per month. For atomic timekeeping, it uses 6 global atomic transmitting stations. When fully charged, the battery lasts about 6-9 months.
As mentioned, the watch is packed with useful functions. First and foremost, it has a flash alert and afterglow. The flash alert flashes with the buzzer that sounds for alarm, hourly time signal, and countdown timer alarm. For legibility, it has an electro-luminescent backlight.
Furthermore, it is equipped with a 1/100-second stopwatch and can measure 00’00″00~59’59″99 for the first 60 minutes and 1:00’00~23:59’59 after 60 minutes.
The measuring unit is 1/100 second for the first 60 minutes and 1 second after 60 minutes.
The measuring modes it has are elapsed time, split time, and 1st and 2nd place times. It is equipped with a full auto-calendar to the year 2039 and displays 12/24-hour format. Of course, we also have regular timekeeping which shows hour, minute, second, pm, month, date, day.
