In addition to a simple and elegant design, the Orient Maestro offers everything we have come to love and appreciate from Orient. This means great build quality, robust and durable movements, and great attention to detail. All at an affordable and very attractive price.

The Orient Maestro was released in 2019 and is therefore a modern timepiece. It is also designed with a modern and contemporary design. For those who are looking for minimalism at an affordable price but without compromising on quality, there are few alternatives that are as good as this one. What’s also great is that this model is available in a few different versions and iterations, meaning you can pick and choose whichever you like the most.

We are all familiar with the Orient Bambino, but not everyone is familiar with this newer model. This is an even more simple and minimalistic timepiece and an even more affordable price than the Bambino.

Case

First off, the Orient Maestro is presented with a simple (of course) and sleek case design. The case has a diameter of 40mm and a thickness of 11.9mm. Some people have complained about the size being too big, and we understand where this is coming from. A simple watch needs a small size, but remember that this is not a dress watch. It is made as a versatile everyday watch. And is there a diameter size that is as commonly used for everyday watches as 40mm?

In addition, the lug-to-lug size of 46.1mm is also relatively small since the case has thin and short rectangular lugs which protrude directly from the case. With that said, this watch should work for most men.

To achieve a clean and elegant look, the case has a completely polished finish. The bezel is thin which allows for a larger dial, to which all the focus is drawn. At 3 o’clock, it has a medium-sized push/pull crown that blends in nicely with the design.

The watch has a water resistance of 100m/330 feet which is actually quite good for this type of watch. It is also appropriate for an everyday watch since it means you can go swimming with it. On top of the case sits a mineral crystal which sits slightly raised.

Dial

This watch is available with a few different dial configurations and just like the rest of the watch, the dial layout is made to be minimalistic and clean, but also practical for everyday wear. This is why you can also find a date window at 3 o’clock. Unlike on many other watches, Orient makes the date window background in the same color as the dial which makes it more subtle and discreet, without damaging the overall look or standing out too much. It is subtle yet important details like these that define the Orient Maestro.

The dial has slim applied metal rectangular hour markers, and the hands also have a slim pencil design. This adds to the modern, elegant, and sleek appearance that Orient is trying to achieve with this watch. The hands have a mirror polish and overall have a very nice finish.

In addition to this, we also have the usual Orient logo at 12 o’clock and the text ”automatic” right beneath it.

The versions that stand out the most are of course the sunburst-dialed versions which reflect the light beautifully and create a more vibrant appearance. But if you prefer something more refined, the non-sunburst dials are a good choice.

Strap & bracelet

Depending on the version you choose, you either have a satin three-link steel bracelet, stainless steel mesh bracelet, or leather strap. Both bracelet options pair with the watch nicely, but the mesh bracelet, in our opinion, looks slightly more elegant and suitable for the style of this watch. It is also very versatile and works for many different occasions.

When it comes to the three-link bracelet, the feeling of quality isn’t there in the same way as the mesh for obvious reasons. As is the case for essentially all affordable watches, the bracelet is the part that has been compromised with the most, and it can feel a bit rattly and cheap, partly due to its folded end links and pin and collar construction.

The leather strap option allows for a more classic and dressy appearance, which is great if you often wear formal attire and want something that works great for formal occasions.

Movement

Unlike what you may think considering its price and slim profile, this watch is powered by the in-house automatic Orient caliber F6722. A feature we love is also the fact that it is equipped with a see-through case back which allows you to see the movement inside. Now, it’s obviously not the most beautiful movement with lots of decorations considering the price, but it can still work as a reminder of the complicated craftsmanship that watch enthusiasts appreciate in mechanical watches. It’s a fun and great addition to the simplicity of this watch.

The movement has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours and incorporates both a hand-winding and hacking function.
