Swatch is one of the largest and most well-known Swiss watch manufacturers. The brand has been around since 1983 and appeals to a large audience for its affordable yet qualitative Swiss watches.
In addition, many of Swatch’s watches have a distinct and recognizable design and look, mainly due to their case shape and integrated strap. The SYXS102 is affordable but still offers Swiss reliability and build quality.
In this article, we are reviewing and looking closer at the Swatch Skinbrushed SYXS102.
Swatch SYXS102 case
The Swatch SYXS102 is presented with a stainless steel case which is similar to what we have come to associate with Swatch. It is curved, quirky, and distinct. The front of the case has a satin finish and the sides are polished, similar to how the edges are slightly beveled.
The case has a diameter of 38mm and a thickness of 6.8mm. With that said, it is a relatively small watch and should work for both men and women. Its slim profile means that it sits discreetly and comfortably on the wrist. This watch will slide under a cuff without any issues.
Interestingly enough, the case does not have a bezel but instead, the case, more or less, consists of one part. This is a natural design trait for many Swatch watches, but at the same time, some people may perceive the case design as too flat and boring. Positioned at the 3 o’clock position, the watch has its crown. It is a push-pull crown and not a screw-down. With that said, it has a water resistance of 30m/100 feet which means it is splash-proof but not suitable for swimming or submerging in water.
If you turn the watch around, there is not much to see apart from the fact that it has a solid case back.
On top of the case, we have a scratch-resistant mineral crystal. This is exactly what we can expect from a watch in this price range. It does the job but is not as scratch-resistant as sapphire crystal.

Moving on to the dial, you can see that it is clean, simple, and legible. There isn’t too much going on about this dial, which a lot of people will probably see as a good thing about this watch. After all, it’s evident that Swatch has made this an everyday timepiece that focuses on versatility, practicality, and legibility. All of these boxes are of course ticked.
The dial of the SYXS102 is black and consists of white-painted ”sectors” or ”rings” with painted markers. The first ring on the dial indicates the hours, and the second ring, outside of the first ring, indicates the minutes. That is it!
The hands have a sword shape with polished metal frames and Luminescent material applied to them. The hands are very simple, clean, and of course, guarantee great legibility and contrast against the black background. Note that this watch does not have a seconds hand. This keeps the dial clean.
SYXS102 movement
The watch is powered by a quartz movement. Not much to say about it other than that it is suitable and appropriate for an everyday watch as it is reliable and accurate.
Strap
The watch is presented on a brown leather strap with a width of 19mm, but it also tapers. The strap has a tang clasp.
The strap is suitable for a casual everyday watch, which it is meant to be. It is casual enough for everyday wear, but also elegant enough for more formal occasions.
