In this article, we are looking closer at one of the watches in this collection.
Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 T0064071603300 Review
The Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 T0064071603300 is focused on vintage traditions and is built as a dress watch. It is classic, and elegant, and will look perfect with a suit and on formal occasions. In trying to find a good word that describes this watch, I came to think about the word ”sophisticated” and how well it describes the watch.
If this is the type of watch that appeals to you, continue reading. In this article, we are reviewing the Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 T0064071603300.
Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 T0064071603300 case
The watch is presented in a simple and clean stainless steel case with a diameter of 39.3mm. The case has a thickness of merely 9.8mm which means it will slip under a cuff without any issues.
As you can expect a dress watch to be, the case is completely polished to keep it elegant. It has a thin rounded bezel which means most of the watch’s size is taken up by the dial. The case has beautifully designed curved lugs that extend from the case.
At the classic 3 o’clock position we find the crown. Since this is not a watch where water resistance is very important, it is a regular push-pull. Speaking of water resistance, this watch has a resistance of 3 bar (30 m / 100 ft). No, that does not mean you can deep 30 meters deep, but it merely refers to the pressure. In watch language, 3 BAR means it can handle rain and water splashes but not much more than that.
To protect the dial, Tissot uses a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 T0064071603300 dial
The dial is definitely the part that Tissot has paid attention to. It’s still, I would argue, clean and refined, despite the fact that it has plenty of details and is finished and decorated beautifully.
The dial has a white color that can shift to silver in some angles and lights. But what stands out about this dial is its pattern which consists of deep triangle shapes which makes it very appealing to the eye and is not just boring and flat. The dial also has Roman numerals which are placed on a smooth background, which provides a contrast to the pattern on the dial. Roman numerals and dress watches go very well together so this is a nice design feature on this watch.
You’ll also notice the elegant leaf-shaped hands of the watch which go very well with the classic design of the watch. Notice, however, how the hands nor the dial has any luminescent material.
Positioned at 3 o’clock, the watch has a date window that is seamlessly integrated into the dial. The date window has a white background which makes it blend very well into the dial. But for a watch of type, a date window is very practical.
Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 T0064071603300 movement
The watch is, as the name suggests, powered by Tissot’s Powermatic 80.111 movement. This is a movement that Tissot has invested lots of resources into developing, in partnership with ETA. The collaboration between these two organizations comes naturally seeing the fact that both Tissot and ETA are owned by the Swatch Group. This is interesting at a time when ETA has announced the restriction of providing movements to other companies than those within the Swatch Group. With that said, the Powermatic 80 movement is based on the reliable ETA caliber 2824-2.
The ”80” in the name actually refers to the power reserve. Yes, that’s 80 hours of power reserve. Very impressive. This was made possible by developing a more efficient spring barrel as well as reducing the frequency from 4Hz to 3Hz.
What is special about this movement is the fact that it does not have a regulating system. This means the Powermatic 80 is laser regulated at the factory. On the rotor, you can see the engraving “High-Tech” escapement, and this is exactly what this refers to.
The movement beats with a frequency of 21600 BPH and has 23 jewels. For shock resistance, it uses Novodiac by Incabloc.
Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80 strap
The watch is presented on a black Alligator embossed cow leather strap. The strap is equipped with a butterfly clasp. There’s not much to say about the strap apart from the fact you can’t go wrong with a leather strap on an elegant dress watch so it goes very well with the design and purpose of this watch. It’s also rather comfortable on the wrist.
