Finally, the time has come. The time for Basel world 2019.

Basel world is one of the most anticipated few days of the year in the watch industry. Apart from the fact that it has been the world’s most important watch fair for many decades, it is also the time of the year when many brands release their new models.

Tudor has become one of the most hyped and anticipated brands at Basel world as people are very curious to see what new watch models Tudor will release.

Finally, the time has come and the wait is over for 2019. Tudor has now released a number of new watches, but the watch we’ll focus on in this article is the Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N.

Background to the Tudor Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N

The background to the Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N is quite simple. It is based on Tudor’s now-iconic Black Bay range, and this can clearly be seen in the case shape of the watch, which is identical to the standard Black Bay models. This can, of course, be seen in the watch’s name. The first Tudor Black Bay Chronograph was released at Basel world in 2017, and now, Tudor felt like it was time to extend its chronograph range by introducing a gold and steel variant of it.

“. Since 1954, TUDOR has been constantly improving its professional divers’ watches. The hybrid Black Bay Chrono S&G chronograph (Steel & Gold) combines the brand’s aquatic heritage, represented by the Black Bay family, with the queen of the racetrack – the chronograph – resulting in a sporty-chic watch with a distinctive touch of nostalgia.”

Tudor released a steel and gold variant of the Black Bay which shares similar characteristics as the new Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N, and it is possible that the original Steel and gold Black Bay was successful in Tudor’s eyes, that they wish to extend this concept. Or, it is possible that they simply wish to introduce more gold variants to their range of watches as gold watches generally tend to have higher profit margins.

Tudor has released the Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N at Baselworld 2019.

The watch has a 41mm steel case with a polished and satin finish. It is equipped with a Manufacture Calibre M55813 which is COSC certified. The movement is a self-winding mechanical and automatic caliber with a bidirectional rotor system. The movement has a power reserve of about 70 hours. Equipped with some gold elements, the watch has a yellow-gold screw-down winding crown and has the Tudor rose logo in relief. The Tudor Black Bay Chrono S&G 79363N is also equipped with yellow-gold screw-down pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock.

The case offers a water resistance of 200 meters or 600 feet.

The bezel is fixed and is made in yellow gold with a tachymetric scale. The bezel is a matte black anodized aluminum disc, equipped with yellow-gold markings. The dial is black and domed – like the dials of all Black Bay dive watches. The Black Bay Chrono S&G dial inspired by the TUDOR divers’ watches produced in the 1950s and adopts the characteristic angular hands known as “snowflake”. Furthermore, the watch is equipped with a domed sapphire crystal which contributes to a more vintage feel. Its  “snowflake” hands are made in gold, refined for optimum readability against the domed matt-black dial.

“The new hybrid Black Bay Chrono chronograph dares to combine the aquatic heritage represented by the Black Bay family with the queen of the racetrack, the chronograph.”

Tudor 79363N S&G strap options
