How Long is Rolex Service Guarantee? Complete Guide

It’s no news that Rolex offers a 5-year international warranty on all of its watches. But what about their service guarantee? When you service your Rolex watch at an official Rolex service center, or by Rolex themselves, you get a so-called service guarantee. This is essentially a guarantee on the service that was performed. And similar to the 5-year international warranty, it is a guarantee of the proper functioning of the watch. This is to ensure that the watch functions as it should and no mistake has been made when the service was carried out.

How long is the Rolex service guarantee?

Now you know that your watch is covered by a service guarantee if you have had it serviced by an official Rolex service center. But how long is this guarantee? The answer is that the Rolex service guarantee is two years.

In Rolex’s words:

“At the end of the service procedure, your watch is returned to you in a protective pouch and accompanied by an international two-year service guarantee covering replacement parts and labour.”

Just like the standard 5-year warranty, the service guarantee is international, meaning you can go to any Rolex official retailer and get help with any issues you may have with your watch.

The Rolex service guarantee covers, as stated, replacement parts and labor. In practice, this translates to the proper functioning of the watch, limited by the same terms as described in the original 5-year warranty. In other words, the guarantee does not cover things like wear and tear of the bracelet, or damage due to neglect, improper use, or accidents like drops. Or, in Rolex’s own words:

“This guarantee excludes any damage or deterioration that results from an accident or from mishandling of the watch. Any intervention by a non-Rolex-authorised third party or the addition of any non-Rolex-manufactured parts or accessories will void the Service Guarantee.”

When your watch is returned from service, you will receive a Rolex service card. This is essentially a paper card, laminated with plastic which has the same size as the original warranty card. Rolex has two different designs for the cards and the Rolex service guarantee card looks like this:

One of the cards includes information about which Rolex retailer serviced the watch, whilst the other doesn’t.  When the service of your watch has been completed, make sure that they remember to provide you with a service card. Without this service card, your watch won’t have the 2-year service guarantee.
