The Caliber 3156 is one of many movements developed and manufactured by Rolex. This movement was released in 2008 and announced together with the new and updated Day-Date which took shape in the model named Day-Date II – a revamped version of the Day-Date made to match the design sized and ideals of the time.

This means a slightly larger and bulkier case and wrist presence ever seen in the Day-Date range.

The Rolex caliber 3156 was retired in 2016 the Day-Date II was replaced by the new generation Day-Date 41.

The Rolex caliber 3156 is a self-winding movement equipped with a perpetual rotor. It beats with a frequency of 28800 VPH. It has 31 jewels and a Glucydur balance wheel with Microstella weight screws. It also incorporates the then-new Parachrom blue Breguet hairspring which was announced in the year 2000. Furthermore, it is also equipped with Rolex’s Paraflex Antichock system. Being a movement that is made for the Day-Date, it indicates hours, minutes, seconds, the day, and the date. As such, it incorporates both a day and a date disc.

Just like all of Rolex’s perpetual calibers, it is a Swiss Chronometer, certified by COSC.
