Tudor Reference Numbers: An Extensive Guide
Tudor is a watch company with a long and rich history, yet one that is many many times underestimated. Tudor was founded by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. Originally, Tudor watches were, to a large extent made using the same parts as Rolex, only fitted with different off-the-shelf movements, and this has also contributed to making Tudor’s vintage watches highly sought-after collection pieces which have skyrocketed in value over the years.
On the web, we saw a huge lack of resources of Tudor reference numbers, and this is why we decided to take it upon ourselves to create our own extensive resource of Tudor reference numbers.
This list of Tudor reference numbers won’t focus on each and every single model made by Tudor, but instead, it will focus on some of the most iconic and important models of Tudor, such as their collection of vintage (and new) chronographs, their modern Black Bay collection, their modern Pelagos collection, and maybe most importantly, their vintage Submariners.
As such, this list of Tudor reference numbers will list both vintage and new models, these are the models that have been most important for Tudor and the watches that have contributed to making Tudor a popular and prestigious watch brands among watch collectors and individuals passionate about watches alike.

Hi,
I have a Tudor Submariner marked 7016/0 which is not on your list. Can you tell me anything about this.
Thanks
Hi David!
Congratulations on a lovely timepiece.
“Tudor changed to ETA’s 2483 movement for the new references 7016 (and later 7021) around 1968-1969. Rumor has it that the new type of hands were also introduced with this model – they are called snowflake by collectors – were requested by the French Navy (Marine Nationale Francé). The company had to come up with a variation that would be easier to see under water. Tudor changed the design and it determined the look of their Submariner models for the coming years. Not only the hands were changed, the indexes became square (previous ones were round), and the dial was now also available in blue. The case and bezel stayed the same as it was on the Tudor Submariner 7928. Shortly after the introduction of the reference 7016, Tudor introduced the Tudor Submariner reference 7021, which was identical to the previous model but had a date feature at 3 o’clock. Characteristic of these models is the fact that many models have damaged dials. In many cases the lacquered dial started to flake or bubble up after a while due to the combination of lousy quality of manufacture and lack of proper care.”
Hope it helps!

I have a Tudor Oysterdate that appears to be from 1967 based on the serial number range . The reference number is 7962. I would appreciate any information you could share. It was my father’s watch and He probably purchased it in Canada. Thank you.
Hi Barry!
Thank you for your comment.
Here is some information regarding your Tudor Oysterdate:
The Oyster Date reference 7962 was produced around the same time as Rolex’s rare Veriflat Oyster reference 6512. As a result, there are many similarities between the two models with Tudor being the more affordable option. We recommend jumping on the opportunity to add this vintage reference to your collection. Its feature set boasts an immense amount of character via a 34mm waterproof Oyster case topped with a matching dial and silver indices and hands. Creamy patina plots top the hour and minute hands, giving this men’s Tudor watch an attractive vintage style. A manual-winding calibre 2403 movement beats within the case and boasts 21 jewels and a BPH of 18,800.
Diameter excluding winding crown: 34.5mm
Length including lugs: 41.5mm
Depth to centre of crystal: 8mm
Strap width/lug gauge: 19mm
Hope that helps!
Kind regards,

Hi – I have a Rolex Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner with the Rose face and no date. Looking through your list, the serial number sequence denotes it was made between 1961/1962. But the Reference Number 7958, does not appear on your list. Would you be willing to give me any insight/information on the Reference number? Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
Tudor never made a ref. 7958 Submariner.
Tudor did make a model called the 7928 in the mid sixties. It’s a tudor submariner, very similar to the 5513 is size and weight. In fact, the bezel inserts for the Rolex 5513 and the Tudor 7928 are the same part…

Hi,
I have Tudor, gold (I think) bracelet watch, with 2 diamonds, which had belonged to my great grand mother. The watch only had Tudor written, on the face, but it does have the number 1272 written at the back. I will be grateful if you can give me any information about this watch and it’s present value.
Thank you
Hi!
Unfortunately, we cannot get any information about the watch with the details provided.
We would need a photo of the watch to give an estimate.
